Hey there, I’m Karleigh! Most days you can find me in workout clothes while reheating my coffee for the 3rd time and chasing my two rambunctious boys around. I am mostly known for my love of nutrition and good food, my obsession with dogs, and my addiction to baking.
The things I am most passionate about in life are feeding my family delicious, nutritious foods and debunking diet-culture propaganda with simple, evidence-based recommendations. I work with moms who are struggling with distinguishing a fad diet versus sound nutrition for their families. I work with moms to generate a tailored approach to feeding their specific families that minimizes stress and is appropriate for their schedule. Have a picky eater? What about food allergies? These are just a few things that I help clients with that, if not managed carefully in young children, can manifest into less healthy relationships with food.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, completing my dietetic internship in Houston, TX, and my Master’s Degree in Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University. As a Registered Dietitian, I have over 5 years of experience working in nutrition communication and corporate wellness. Through my work at a major grocery retail chain, I learned valuable tips and tricks to help people navigate the grocery store easily, helping them to make better food choices. I next worked in corporate wellness for a major oil and gas company and helped create a culture of wellness for employees through hosting educational nutrition talks, interactive cooking classes, and more.
When I’m not busy working with clients you can catch me exploring the world with my boys, snuggled up on the couch with a glass of wine and a Marvel movie, or trying a new restaurant with my husband.
5 Facts About Me
I am a West Texas girl, born and raised. Growing up, I didn’t appreciate this upbringing, but now I love how it has allowed me to better understand agriculture and how it impacts our daily lives.
I have finished 9 half marathons and countless 5Ks with my husband. If we ever get a chance to break away from our boys, you can find us finishing a race together.
I originally pursued being a dietitian because I loved understanding how different foods gave you a different benefit. Little did I know I was awakening one of my biggest passions.
I have been with my husband since I was in college and we just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary! He is still my biggest supporter, best friend, and life companion.
If given the choice, I would 99% of the time choose to stay home in sweats, watching a movie over going to a party.
